They were concerned about how the proposed day-one unfair dismissal right might affect their ability to manage new team members who aren&#8217;t the right fit for the organisation. The main question was: &#8220;If someone isn&#8217;t working out in the first few weeks, will I still be able to let them go fairly?&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">We guided the client through a scenario-planning session, mapping out what we thought a fair and well-documented process would look like under the proposed new rules. Together, we reviewed the probation procedures, updated onboarding documents and created a checklist for managers to ensure clear communication and regular feedback from inception. By focusing on transparent documentation and early intervention, they felt reassured that they could still make necessary decisions, while also providing new employees with clarity and support around their accountabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">This hands-on approach helped the client to prepare for legislative change as well as strengthening trust and engagement within the team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Behind the scenes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">As a team we are staying close to every update, reviewing insights from&nbsp;Brightmine, the CIPD and leading legal commentators&nbsp;to ensure our guidance remains timely and accurate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">We are also developing proactive communication plans to help clients distinguish between:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list is-style-brightmine-list-item-spacing-small\">\n<li class=\"\"><strong>what to do now<\/strong>&nbsp;&#8211; practical, action-oriented steps to stay compliant; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>what to watch out for<\/strong>&nbsp;&#8211; upcoming changes that may need future action.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Ultimately, our role as a trusted people partner extends well beyond ensuring compliance.
