Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSH Act) and other federal laws enforced by the US Department of Labor (DOL) are going up again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">They will increase by 2.6%, effective January 15.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/114\/plaws\/publ74\/PLAW-114publ74.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2015 law<\/a> requires the DOL to adjust its civil monetary penalties for inflation each year to &#8220;improve the effectiveness of civil monetary penalties and to maintain their deterrent effect.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The annual inflation adjustments are tied to the Consumer Price Index (CPI), so the change in DOL&#8217;s civil money penalties parallels the overall rate of inflation as measured by the change in prices of food, housing, transportation and other goods and services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">This year&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.federalregister.gov\/documents\/2025\/01\/10\/2024-31602\/federal-civil-penalties-inflation-adjustment-act-annual-adjustments-for-2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer
